Interventional cardiology for congenital heart disease
Congenital heart disease – Modern treatment options
In the cath lab we can treat a significant number of congenital heart diseases. An important prerequisite before the procedure, is an accurate diagnosis and discussion of the individual patient with a team of specialized doctors (cardiologist and heart surgeon specialized in congenital heart diseases, specialized radiologist and anesthesiologist – Heart Team). The operations we can perform are:
• Closure of atrial septal defect (ASD)
• Closure open foramen ovale (PFO)
• Closure ventricular septal defect (membranous VSD, muscular VSD)
• Closure patent ductus arteriosus (PDA)
• Angioplasty for coarctation of the aorta (CoA)
• Valvuloplasty for congenital aortic valve stenosis
• Angioplasty for supra-valvular aortic stenosis
• Angioplasty for stenosis of pulmonary arteries
• Valvuloplasty for pulmonary valve stenosis
• Percutaneous implantation of prosthetic pulmonary valve (Melody) in graft (conduit) degeneration, in patients who have had surgery for Tetralogy Fallot.
